Our Programs

We serve as a catalyst for funding, developing, and scaling environmental solutions that address the root causes of ecosystem collapse. By combining catalytic grants with innovative financing models, we help communities and entrepreneurs test new ideas, grow what works, and create pathways toward lasting impact.

Our primary emphasis areas align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use the SDGs as a “lens” with our project selection criteria, ensuring we stay focused on our mission

Catalytic Grant Program
Since 2019, Howell Conservation Fund has funded breakthrough conservation projects worldwide through our Catalytic Grant Program. These early-stage investments provide seed capital to test ideas and unlock larger funding streams. Current projects include the Loon Preservation Committee’s lead tackle buy-back program in New Hampshire and Beach Collective’s mangrove restoration pilots in the Philippines.

Venture Studio
As a venture studio, Howell Conservation Fund is piloting new models to make ecosystem restoration financially self-sustaining. Our flagship initiative, the Regenerative Economy and Ecosystem Fund (REEF), is launching in Grand Bahama to back local businesses restoring coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrasses. By blending smart finance with conservation, REEF is proving that regeneration can be profitable, scalable, and community-led.
