           •  Langland Conservation, established in 2021, is a UK-registered charity that provides intelligence support to global conservation partners. They focus on tackling complex threats to wildlife through advanced investigative methodologies, capacity building, and data-driven insights.

           • Howell Conservation Fund’s 2023-24 Catalytic Grant supported Langland’s efforts to build in-country intelligence capabilities and empower conservation stakeholders in combating wildlife crime.

Our Approach

Langland Conservation operates on multiple levels to combat wildlife crime. Their approach includes:

           1. Offering tactical and strategic intelligence to conservation partners to counter criminal syndicates.

           2. Building in-country intelligence and data collection systems to ensure sustainability and long-term conservation efforts.

           3. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, such as satellite imagery and mapping software, to enhance wildlife protection efforts.

           4. Engaging in collaborations with global partners and leveraging innovative tools for maximum conservation impact.

Outcomes

With support from the HCF catalytic grant,Langland Conservation:

• Established a comprehensive baseline analysis of the Yawanawa Territory, mapping key environmental and cultural priorities to guide conservation efforts

Conducted initial reconnaissance and groundwork, laying the foundation for long-term environmental and socio-economic initiatives in collaboration with the Yawanawa community.

Earned recognition from Yawanawa leadership, reinforcing the project’s importance in securing the sustainable protection of their land.

HCF funding was fully utilized to support staff-led research and analysis, ensuring the project’s success. Moving forward, Langland Conservation aims to secure additional funding to expand on these efforts and implement conservation-driven solutions from the Yawanawa people.
